Caprese Pinwheels with Bacon

Tray of Caprese Pinwheels with Bacon

I love party food and these Caprese Pinwheels with Bacon are perfect for easy entertaining. No matter the get together type, these will be a hit! These would be great for a brunch, girl’s night or even a Superbowl party.

This is like serving a caprese salad in finger food form, plus some added bacon(because bacon makes everything better). Cream cheese mixed with fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and bacon. Then topped with tomato and a balsamic glaze.

These can easily be made ahead of time and then just cut and serve when ready!

Ingredients for Caprese Pinwheels

  • 3 – 10 inch Flour Tortillas – I used the garden spinach herb because I love the color, but regular tortillas will do just fine
  • 8 ounces neufchatel cream cheese, softened
  • 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 6 leaves of fresh basil, chopped
  • 2-3 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • Balsamic Vinegar Glaze

How to make Caprese Pinwheels with Bacon

In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, crumbled bacon, shredded mozzarella and basil.

Spread 1/3 of the mixture onto each tortilla, then layer the tomatoes on top of the cream cheese, keeping them close to the middle of the tortilla.

Season with 1/8 teaspoon of salt and pepper and then drizzle approximately 1/2 teaspoon of balsamic glaze over the tomatoes.

Roll up tightly and then wrap in plastic wrap. Place in fridge for 1 hour to allow the cream cheese to firm back up.

When ready to serve, remove from plastic wrap and slice into 8 one inch rounds. Discard the hollow ends.

Tips and substitutions

  • Make sure your cream cheese is softened, it is easier to mix up and spread.
  • I used Neufchatel cheese(1/3 fat), regular cream cheese can be substituted, but will alter the nutrition calculation.
  • You can omit the bacon if you need these to be vegetarian
