Glowing Bloody Lemon Drop

Glowing Bloody Lemon Drop

This glowing bloody lemon drop is brought to you by Mr. Maple Lane Kitchen! Yes, that’s right! My husband loves halloween and was thrilled to help me out making a spooky drink. It is perfect for a halloween party and impressing guests.

Simple to make, fun to look at and it tastes delicious! There are only a few ingredients in this: Vodka, Lemon flavored moonshine and tonic water.

What makes this drink glow?

Tonic water! There a few foods that naturally glow under black light and tonic water is one of them! You do not need a ton to make it glow either. Each drink has about 2 ounces of tonic water in it.

What makes it “bloody”?

Just a few drops of red food dye will give this a “bloody” look. We did some experimentation while creating this drink and grenadine does not work. It ended up blending and just basically turning the whole drink red. The red food dye worked perfectly and stays separated like you see in the picture.

Ingredients for Glowing Bloody Lemon Drop:

  • Shaker filled with ice
  • Vodka (I use Titos)
  • Lemon Drop Moonshine (see note on substitutions)
  • Tonic Water
  • Lemon for garnish
  • Sugar
  • Red Food Dye

Directions:

  1. Run a wedge of lemon around the edge of the martini glass and then rim with sugar.
  2. In a shaker filled with ice, add the vodka and lemon moonshine. Shake well.
  3. Pour the drink into the glasses and then top off with tonic water.
  4. Garnish with lemon peel or a wedge of lemon.
  5. When ready to serve, add 2-3 drops of red food dye for a bloody look

Substitutions

**Please note that I have not personally tried these substitutions, but I wanted to offer alternatives in case you can not find Lemon Drop/Lemon Moonshine**
